Hi, I'm Ziem.
Originally from Poland, where I graduated as Fine Arts Master in Multimedia Arts back in 2005, I’ve been working in London’s design industry since 2006. The city drew me in and never let me go, it continues to inspire my creative juices everyday.
In the last 10 years I’ve picked up a small collection of skills to add to my design arsenal, from hand drawn illustration to studio and location photography, and most recently I got into animating in After FX. Next thing on my list is DSLR video, but that’s still ahead of me.
I’ve led teams, sometime bigger (at some point 20 juniors, yes, you read that right) sometime smaller and very tight knit and I’ve worked solo when needed. I’ve directed other specialists (illustrators, photographers, 3d wizards, developers, you name it). Goes without saying I also have got client facing skills.
My superpower you ask? I would say it’s having a multifaceted idea of what a brand needs to be, from the initial pencil sketch of it’s logotype to the final customer experience, I enjoy all the steps of creation and developments in between those two points. And of course having different skills, so not only can I do a lot myself but also talk to hired freelancers in their language, be it a photographer or an animator.
Ok, that’s me as a professional. But we are all human, and sometimes it’s the miscommunication inside the team, or the clash of characters that stalls a potentially great project. So who am I as a person? The short answer is I don’t know, but here are some facts you may use to build up an image of me: I always have my camera on me, I run an art photography promotion platform for emerging artists, I curate online exhibitions of other people’s work (www.snappedaway.com). My kindle is always at hand, packed full of world literature, vegan nutritional science and ethics, as well as poetry, running and yoga books.
I’m a busy bastard, having a family on top of all that, but I don’t complain, in fact, the less time I have I seem to be doing more. Did I mention I am a stationery geek, with a particular obsession towards fountain pens? Well, yes, I know, my wife tells me just what you thought right there. But hey, there are worse ways to waste your hard earned money on.
